The Justice Programme foresees four priority areas:
        •    Judicial cooperation
        •    Judicial training
        •    Access to justice
        •    Drug policy initiatives
 

       The overall objective of the programme is to contribute to the
        further development of a European area of justice based on mutual
        recognition.
        The specific objectives of the Justice programme are:
        •  facilitate and support judicial cooperation in civil and
            criminal matters;
        •  support and promote judicial training, including language
            training on the legal terminology in order to enhance a
            common legal and judicial culture;
        •  facilitate the effective access to justice for all, promoting
            and supporting the rights of victims of crime;
        •  support initiatives in the field of drugs policies (judicial
            cooperation and crime prevention aspects).
 

Actions funded under the Justice programme:
        •  Analytical activities, such as collection of data and
            statistics; research activities; assessments; development
            and publication of guides, reports and educational
            material; conferences, seminars, expert meetings and
            conferences;
        •  Training activities, such as staff exchanges, conferences,
            seminars, training events for trainers;
        •  Mutual learning, cooperation, awareness and
            dissemination activities; organisation of peer reviews and
            mutual learning; organisation of conferences, seminars,
            information campaigns; collection and publication of
            materials to disseminate information on the programme
            and its results; development, management and
            maintenance of systems and tools using information and
            communications technology (ICTs), including further
            development of a European e-Justice portal as a tool to
            improve the access of citizens to justice;
        •  Support of Member States when implementing EU law and  policy and of key European actors and networks at European level, even in field of judicial training; and support for networking at European level between specialised organs and entities as well as between national, regional and local authorities and NGOs.
